Quick Overview
Magda Genestar
This poem by the Catalan poetess Carme Rovira reflects perfectly well the life and professional development of the artist Magda Genestar. The "Cuqui" collection is the result of representing in three dimensions all that this painter from Majorca wanted to express through her work.
THE WORK EXPLAINING THE ARTIST
Magda Genestar was born with the light of Majorca
among her fingers.
As an illustrator of children book grew up
with the tenderness pervading her painbrush.
Barcelona. While studying fine arts
becomes a painter, for her strokes to come.
Introverted in creation, absorbed by the landscape
of El Maresme, her sketches cross the boundaries,
Germany, England, Sweden and the most furthest places
in the Arabian world.
A painter grows up inside of her, and if it is true that
the work explains the artist, Magda with her paintings
tells she wants the peace, enriched by the interest and magic
of creativity.
She chooses thoroughly old objects because
her topics reflect the mystery of other lives.
Aesthete, she goes from sensitivity to the accurate touch shaping it
in the colour alluring the senses and the pupils.
In her pictorial compositions time firmly lays
generous, like a sandglass sliding
with an apparent placidity, without leaving a single grain on the reverse
of the finishing touch.
Dolls, flowers, windows, little baskets, objects surrounding us
are raised to the rank of work of art to make us
question its small size.
Transparency in blond laces, as she would like
for human feelings.
Appreciating the smallest detail
like the brush stroke stirring us, becoming useful
because it is created from the place where the heart guides creativeness.
A will to improve the world, shows she credulous
from her positivist style.
Such is Magda Genestar; such is her mirror,
the work explaining the artist.
